News Media Registration

Register today for International Wine, Spirits & Beer Event at the NRA Show!

Alcohol is a hot restaurant industry trend — both at the bar as drinks, in the kitchen as creative dishes, and on the table as food-alcohol pairings. The National Restaurant Association's new International Wine, Spirits & Beer Event is an industry-first forum to highlight these trends and connect restaurants with vintners, distillers, brewers and importers in an exclusive environment.

According to the Association's survey of more than 1,200 professional chefs, craft beer, signature cocktails and organic wine top the list of hot trends. If you cover the culinary beat, you can explore these and other trends in person by attending.

Online registration for credentialed members of the news media is now open. Journalists registering for IWSB will automatically be registered for the 2008 National Restaurant Association Restaurant, Hotel-Motel Show as well.

Who’s eligible for Press badges?
To maintain quality news coverage and media representation on the Show floor and in IWSB, members of the news media need current, official credentials to enter the exhibit halls or attend events at McCormick Place. You must meet the following criteria and present acceptable identification to qualify for a complimentary press badge!

Eligibility:

    1. You must be 21 years or older. No exceptions.
    2. You must be on the editorial side of a well-established news media outlet that has an external circulation of no less than 2,000 and publishes original content. Online outlets (including blogs) and other publications not able to prove readership will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
    3. Freelance writers and photographers must present a letter of assignment from an approved media outlet to be granted a press badge. Similarly, broadcast or online production company representatives must present a letter of assignment from an approved news media outlet.
    4. Advertising, public relations, marketing and sales representatives, and other non-editorial media outlet staff will not be granted press badges and must register through general registration and pay appropriate fees. Similarly, non-credentialed companions of properly credentialed media representatives must pay registration fees via general registration.
    5. Your news outlet must either regularly cover the restaurant-and-hospitality industry or target a general audience. Corporate newsletters and other closed-circuit publications are not eligible for complimentary press registration.
    6. Specialty publications/online media other than restaurant-and-hospitality trade outlets will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
    7. Proper, non-expired credentials must be presented if requested by National Restaurant Association staff when registering.
    8. Media outlet interns and student practitioners accompanying credentialed media representatives must show documentation proving college credit is being received for the internship, or other proof of employment.

Identification (must have at least one of the following):

• Officially issued press credentials (by policy, government or other recognized issuer).
• A business card with your name, title and media outlet.
• A letter of assignment from editor/producer of an approved media outlet (photo copies not accepted).
• Current publication masthead with your name and title.
• News article published within the past six months with your byline.

Please note: You will be required to present a government-issued photo ID and event press badge to gain entrance. The name on both items must match.
